PRODUCTS & SYSTEMS

Wet Pipe
A sprinkler system employing automatic sprinklers that are attached to a piping system containing water and connected to a water supply so that water discharges immediately from sprinklers opened by heat from a fire.

Dry Pipe
A sprinkler system employing automatic sprinklers that are attached to a piping system containing air or nitrogen under pressure, the release of which (as from the opening of a sprinkler) permits the water pressure to open a valve known as a dry pipe valve, and the water then flows into the piping system and out the opened sprinklers.

ESFR
A sprinkler system employing Early Suppression Fast-Response (ESFR) sprinklers that are attached to a wet piping system containing water and connected to a water supply so that water discharges immediately from sprinklers opened by heat from a fire.

ESFR Sprinklers are a type of fast-response sprinkler that meet the characteristics of a sprinkler that defines its ability to control or extinguish a fire (a) Thermal sensitivity. A measure of the rapidity with which the thermal element operates as installed in a specific sprinkler or sprinkler assembly. One measure of thermal sensitivity is the response time index (RTI) as measured under standardized test conditions. (1) Sprinklers defined as fast response have a thermal element with an RTI of 50 (meters-seconds) ½ or less. An ESFR sprinkler is listed for its capability to provide fire suppression of specific high-challenge fire hazards.

High Speed Deluge
A sprinkler system employing open sprinklers that are attached to a piping system that is connected to a water supply through a valve that is opened by the operation of a detection system installed in the same areas as the sprinklers. When this valve opens, water flows into the piping system and discharges from all sprinklers attached thereto. Checkout videos on YouTube - "Sprinkler Deluge".

Preaction
A sprinkler system employing automatic sprinklers that are attached to a piping system that contains air that might or might not be under pressure, with a supplemental detection system installed in the same areas as the sprinklers.

Chemical / Foam
A foam fire protection system should be used to protect buildings that contain combustible materials and other hazards that a normal water based fire protection system could not suppress in the event of a fire. The foam system suppresses the fire by separating the fuel from the air. These systems typically inject a concentrated foam mixture into a water based deluge system. Checkout videos on YouTube - "Hangar Foam Dump" or "Jet-X Foam Test".

Clean Agent
A Clean Agent Gas System is a clean, non-corrosive gas, which is designed to extinguish fire. Gas is especially valuable where other extinguishing medias might damage stock or valuable equipment. These systems are used most often in computer/data, electrical, and telecommunication equipment rooms.

Marine Sprinkler System
A sprinkler system installed on a ship, boat, or other floating structure that takes its supply from the water on which the vessel floats.

Pre-Manufactured Pump Houses
Midwest Sprinkler Corporation manufactures, provides and installs pre-fabricated pump houses, designed to your specifications, an all-steel building with easy access entries, electric or diesel driven fire pump, electric, heat, lights, gutters, etc. Each pre-fabricated pump house is built to NFPA and NEC standards, as well as, UL listed and/or FM approved components.

This offers you, the customer, the ability to have one single source for the responsibility of your fire protection systems.

Training
On-site Training is offering using Midwest Sprinkler Corporation’s “Burn Trailer”. We go on-site to various Fire Departments throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana giving classes and live demonstrations utilizing the burn trailer that contains different valving assemblies/sprinkler head types, etc. This video is a short demonstration of how the burn trailer works.
